Not interested in defection: Baghel

Friday, 30 October 2020 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

The Congress is not interested in engineering defections from the Opposition ranks but those keen to join us can decide on their own, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Thursday, adding it is up to the party High Command to take the final decision.

He was interacting with the media at Raipur Airport before leaving for election rallies for the Marwahi and Anuppur by-elections in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh respectively.

Baghel made the remarks amid reports that Janta Chhattisgarh Congress (Jogi) MLAs were showing interest in rejoining the Congress.

The Chief Minister said more MLAs are interested but "totally in their own interest".

On a two-day visit to Marwahi by former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, Baghel said he never visited Marwahi during BJP's 15-year rule. He always returned to Raipur from Bilaspur.

On BJP agitations, he said political parties can hold their programmes but people are the real judges. They know which party has fulfilled the promises it made to them.

Answering a query, he said in Madhya Pradesh the Congress is making all efforts to return back to form a Government.
