Notorious ATM looter, five others held in city

The Commissionerate police special squad arrested notorious ATM looter Sambhav Acharya along with five others on Tuesday.

The cops also seized cash of Rs 42,000 from his possession. The fraudster has over 30 cases of theft and loot lodged against him at various police stations, including eight in Bhubaneswar and five in Pune .Earlier in May, 2017, Acharya was nabbed by police from a cinema hall here. Later, he managed to come out on bail.He was again arrested by the Sakinaka police of Mumbai in September, 2018 on charges of cheating many people in western suburbs. The cops had then said that Acharya would make round trips to Mumbai at least twice a month to dupe people.

The accused would go to ATM counters and withdraw money from people’s bank accounts with his tricks. The police had arrested him from a luxury hotel in Andheri.
