The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Monday announced that final year examination in universities will have to be conducted by September-end, deferring the schedule from July in view of a spike in Covid 19 cases.
Many universities in the State have started preparations for holding tests, while those where examinations have commenced have decided to continue the examination as per its earlier schedule.
National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi (NSURL) — State’s lone national university has decided to continue examinations as per its earlier schedule. The final year (10th semester) examination at NSURL began on Monday the day on which UGC directives were issued.
NSURL registrar MR Murthy said, “The final year 10th semester examination began on Monday and it will continue till this week. The decision to conduct the examination was taken in June based on an academic council meeting and it was attended by students representatives.”
At the academic council meeting, the students urge the university administration to hold the examination by July end as many students who have been recruited at different companies based on campus interviews have to join their organization.
The registrar claimed that final year 10th semester examination will be concluded this week as examination is for four papers. The results and certificate will be issued to students by the end of this month so that they don’t face any problem in joining the companies in which they have been recruited.
The NSURL is conducting examinations on an online basis, under which examination paper is sent to students in their email.
The examination is an open book examination. An "open book examination" is an assessment method designed in a way that allows students to refer to class notes and summaries or a “memory aid”, textbooks, or other approved material while answering questions.
