One more city resident has succumbed to Covid-19 in Chandigarh taking the total toll to 15. The total number of positive cases reached 1051 on Friday with 35 persons found infected by Covid-19.
There were 369 active cases till the evening in the city.
“A 46 years old female from Kajheri had died of Covid-19 on July 29. She was brought dead to GMSH-16 on July 29 and was sampled post death.
The deceased had a past history of complaints of acute abdominal pain radiating to the back. No history of fever, cough or co-morbid conditions were found,” stated Chandigarh Health Department’s evening bulletin. Three family contacts and four community contacts of the deceased have been sampled and their results are awaited, the bulletin stated.
Of the fresh cases, 20 were contacts of already positive tested patients. A five days old female child from Manimajra is tested positive. And, one of the persons tested positive is an international passenger who had returned from Saudi Arab. He is a 52 years old male resident of Sector 34 here, the bulletin said.
Fresh positive cases were reported from Sector 23, 26, 29, 32, 34, 35, 38, 39 40, 48, 56, Kajheri, Ramdarbar, Bapu Dham colony, Manimajra, Mauli Jagran, Dhanas and Bapu Dham colony in Sector 26 here.
Eight members of a family were found infected in Sector 32.
They are family members of already positive tested patient. The family members included females aged 15, 37, 55, 15, 65 and male aged 10, 14, 42.
With 20 recoveries, the total recovered patients were 667 in the city. The recovery rate of positive patients stood at 63.46 percent while the fatality rate was recorded 1.42 percent in Chandigarh.
So far, 13959 samples belonging to residents have been tested for Covid-19.
