The Department of Registration and Stamps is going to open one more office of Deputy Registrar in Raipur, it was announced on Saturday.
The decision was taken following the heavy rush in the four registration offices in Raipur. This will be the fifth office of Deputy Registrar, an official press release said.
It added that the department's online registration portal will be upgraded soon.
Last month, a few employees of the Registration office in Raipur were infected by coronavirus, due to which the registration process slowed down and also leading to increased workload, the press release said.
According to the department, some people have booked multiple online appointments in advance which has increased the waiting period for people who genuinely want to get their properties registered.
So, to streamline the working and increase the speed of transactions, Chhattisgarh’s Inspector General Registration and Stamps has instructed opening of one more Deputy Registrar office in Raipur.
The Inspector General has also made some amendments in the existing system e-registration. According to the new rules, only those parties will be provided appointments who submit 5 percent of the stamp value of the property through e-stamp in advance.
The parties who submit tax less than 5 percent of the asset value earlier will be provided 24 hours to rectify and deposit the correct amount. Otherwise their appointments will be cancelled.
Those failing to appear on the appointment date will be eligible to get the next date only after 15 days.
