Online lifestyle exhibition to boost women entrepreneurs

The Mahila Samiti for Friends of Tribal Society (FTS) is organising an online lifestyle exhibition from October 19 to 23.  The idea is to provide market for the upcoming women entrepreneurs and businessmen a national platform for better growth during the novel coronavirus pandemic,  

Addressing the media, Chetna Kauntia, president Jamshedpur chapter of Mahila Samiti for Friends of Tribal Society (FTS) said that the National Mahila Samiti of Friends of Tribal Society is organising ‘Ekal- Exposition’, an online e-exhibition of exclusive multi-products.

“The idea is to provide upcoming entrepreneurs mostly a national platform to market their products during the novel coronavirus pandemic. The funds to be collected through the exhibition will be used for education of tribal and rural children through Ekal Vidyalayas,” said the president.

Secretary Maheshwari Dubey said that e-exhibition will be streamed live on www.ekalfts.com. The exhibition will be inaugurated by BJP MP Hema Malini.  She informed that selected exclusive products will be displayed in the exhibition and the exhibitors would be allowed to display their products ranging from fashion, jewellery, art, food, furniture and lifestyle. She informed that the income generated from the exhibition will be donated to the schools run by EKAL in remote areas of the country.

There would be 200 stalls during the exhibition out of them five are from Jamshedpur. About four lakh people are expected to participate in it. The buyers will also get the best offers and a wide range of products. 

Kauntia said the Friends of Tribals Society (FTS), or Vanbandhu Parishad, is a volunteer organisation formed in 1989 with the goal of improving literacy and health among the Adivasi, rural tribal people in India. The society operates one-teacher schools in the villages, led by trained members of the local community.

“We were inspired by the words of Swami Vivekananda that if the child cannot go to school, then the school must go to the child,” said the president.  She said that they appoint teachers to go to tribal and backward areas to teach.

The president informed that FTS has been able to expand beyond education. She said they have even met the families of these students and gifted them plantation and other resources. On the occasion, treasurer Seema Bagrodia, Shubha Kauntia, Rinku Agarwal and Nivedita Baranwal and others were present.
