Only one new case in Punjab

Punjab’s Covid-19 tally on Friday reached 2,029 with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawan tested positive in Ludhiana as the State recorded just one case. Till date, the state has reported total 39 deaths.

In all, total 28 patients — including seven from Jalandhar, one from Sangrur, six from Ropar, two from Fatehgarh Sahib, four from Bathinda, and eight from Mansa — were recovered from the contagion and sent back home on Friday.

With this, total 1,847 coronavirus patients have recovered till date, leaving just 143 active cases across the state so far with maximum 48 in Ludhiana out of total 172 confirmed cases, 24 in Jalandhar out of 210, 16 in Faridkot out of 61 positive cases, among others.

As many five districts — Bathinda, Sangrur, Mohali, Moga, and Ferozepur — have become corona-free with no active cases presently. Besides, 13 other districts also have less than 10 active cases.

In late development, Bathinda reported a positive case, which is yet to be added in the official tally. The patient had recently returned from abroad, taking the district’s tally up at 42. Notably, Bathinda has become the corona-free only on Friday after four remaining patients were cured and sent back home.
