Open heart surgery stopped at SCB

Wednesday, 25 November 2020 | PNS | CUTTACK

Open heart surgery at the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, was hit following the oxygen pipe of the ICU of its Cardiotherapy Department burst on Monday night.

While the critical patients were being administered oxygen through cylinders after the mishap, open heart surgery of a 16-year-old girl couldn’t be conducted.

While the critical patients were shifted to other wards, the oxygen plant had been closed after the incident. Open heart surgery at the hospital will not be carried out until restoration of the damaged pipe, hospital sources said.
