Paediatrician Rout passes away

Eminent paediatrician Dr Akshay Kumar Rout passed away at a private hospital here on Monday. He was 70 and is survived by his wife Pushpa and three daughters.

Dr Rout was father of senior IAS officer Sujata Karthikeyan and father-in-law of 5T Secretary VK Pandian. He was famous in Tatanagar for treating children of poor people free of cost. After taking voluntary retirement from Tata, he had started Pushpa Clinic in Telco.

Born in Baluria village in Kendrapada district’s Pattamundai area, Dr Rout completed MBBS at the SCB Medical College in 1972.

His body was cremated at the Swargadwar in Puri later in the night.
