Parents of various schools of the city under the aegis of Organisation of Parents Associations’ Forum (OPAF) on Saturday organised a demonstration here, protesting a “partial” MoU reached between the Government and school owners when they (parents) have suffered financially a lot due to Covid pandemic.
“Instead of considering plights of parents, the State Government with help of a so called parents’ association is providing supports to commercially-run schools. The MoU submitted at the High Court is partial and meant to support private schools,” alleged OPAF president Dr Gagan Bihari Rout and other functionaries.
They demanded that the schools take only tuition fees to meet expenditure of salaries of teachers and other employees and waive all other charges. The Government should issue a specific direction to schools in this regard.
Parents of the Sai International School, DAV School, ODM School, Young Fonix, BJEM, Mothers’ Public School, Xavier School, Saint Josef, Kedargouri, Venkateshwar, Amruta Vidyalaya and Narayani School joined the demonstration.
