The Pradesh Congress Committee president Pritam Singh has supported the decision of the state cabinet to recommend extension of the lockdown to the Central Government for containment of COVID-19.
In a statement issued to the media, Singh said that the state government’s decision is correct considering that the situation in Uttarakhand has not normalised yet.
He also supported the cabinet decision to deduct 30 per cent from salaries of MLAs. However, he expressed dissatisfaction at insurance cover not being provided to personnel distributing ration to 23 lakh ration card holders.
Stating that he himself had worked as the state’s food and civil supplies Minister, Singh said that he is aware of the responsibilities and difficulties of the departmental personnel.
He has demanded that the Chief Minister immediately facilitate insurance cover for personnel of the food and civil supplies department.
Expressing concern along with fellow party leaders at irregularities in distribution of sanitisers and ration kits in Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar, Singh welcomed the CM’s decision to order a probe in this. Criticising those who are indulging in such acts at a time when people are undergoing considerable financial, physical and mental travails, the PCC chief demanded strict action against those found guilty of irregularities.
