Eminent journalist and former editor of The Pioneer, Udai Sinha, died after prolonged illness at a private nursing home in Lucknow on Wednesday.
He was 62 and is survived by his wife and two sons.
Family members said that Sinha was admitted to a Mahanagar nursing home for the last one week and he died around 4 in the morning.
Sinha had a long journalistic career spanning over four decades in which he worked in different capacities. He was special correspondent with The Hindu in Lucknow between 1985 and 1988 and later became resident editor of The Pioneer and Swatantra Bharat in Lucknow.
Earlier in the late 1980’s, he served as editor of Prabhat Khabar published from Ranchi and later became group editor of Bhaskar. He was also associated with Rashtriya Sahara and Dainik Haribhoomi.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Assembly Speaker Hriday Narain Dikshit, Bharatiya Janata Party state president Swatantra Dev Singh along with several political leaders and journalists expressed grief over his sudden demise.
