Hanumanganj police have nabbed two miscreants near Loco gate Chola mandir and recovered illegally transported 300 bottles of country-made liquor worth Rs 27,000 and seized scooter used to transport liquor illegally on Thursday. According to the police acting of a tip two youths were detained and when they were searched transported 300 bottles of country-made liquor were recovered from their possession.
The two accused were identified as Mohammad Nabeel (19) of Aishbagh and Mohammad Ufaiz Khan (22) of Islampura.
Police said that the two were carrying liquor and failed to produce license regarding the liquor and were nabbed. The source from which the two have obtained the liquor and where it was scheduled to be delivered would be investigated.
Based on the information of illegally transport of liquor when the police started to search for the miscreants of the provided description the accused tried to escape the spot after the police personnel spotted the two accused but police managed to nab the two.
Two gunny sacks were recovered from their possession in which 150 bottles each were found.
After the preliminary investigation a case under section 34(2) of the Excise Act was registered and further investigation has been started.
The scooter which the two were using to carry the liquor was without registration number which is worth Rs 50000 was also seized by the police. The details of the scooter would be investigated in the further investigation, said police.
