Chhattisgarh Police is all set to launch a special campaign to help Senior Citizens in distress or crisis including those separated from children or living only with a spouse or facing threat or stress, it was announced on Thursday. Under the community policing through the 'Samarpan' drive, the police will establish contact with the senior citizens in distress, Director General of Police D.M. Awasthi said in a press release. This follows the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Police will provide immediate help to the senior citizens who are in distress or in crisis, the officer said. Initially, the Samarpan campaign will be launched in five districts: Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon and Raigarh. Senior citizens interested to be a part of the programme can register themselves between October 23 and 31 by filling a form which will be available with the office of District Superintendent of Police (SP).
