Officials of Ranchi police are worried over Covid 19 virus spreading among police personnel as some of the police personnel posted in six different police stations in the city were tested positive with the virus.
Now district police have issued specific directives to officer in-charges of these six police stations namely Hindpiri, Argora, Bariatu, Dhurwa, Sadar and Chutia to ensure social distancing besides to stop people unnecessarily visiting police station.
However, officially these police stations have neither been sealed nor declared as containment zones but the notices have been pasted on the entrance of these police stations.
“After one of our staffs was tested positive we properly sanitized his work station and his contact history is being traced. Entry of outsiders has been prohibited. We have placed a drop box outside of the police station for people to drop their complaint,” said an official of Bariatu police station.
The concerned employee also used to visit the court as messenger and there is panic among court staff also.
“We have a direct public dealing. We have to remain in the field for patrolling besides to maintain law and order. Besides, we have to entertain and investigate complaints lodged by people. Now the situation has become so worse that we are unable to discharge our duty,” said a police personnel posted in one of the police stations.
Argora police station has also put-up notice to ban entry of outsiders and drop box has been placed for complaints. If the case is lodged complainants are either informed over phone or through social messaging apps.
Personnel posted at Hindpiri police station seem to be worst hit by the scare of virus.
Hindpiri remained Jharkhand’s largest containment zone where a large number of Covid 19 cases were reported.
“After Hindpiri was declared as a containment zone we had a very tough time. We had to manage law and order of the area by taking extra precautions. But we discharged our duty with full dedication as a Corona warrior. But the way the virus is silently affecting people we are indeed worried,” said an official.
