Political parties, different organisations close offices

Friday, 10 July 2020 | Mrituanjay Kumar | Ranchi

Panic gripped people after positive cases of COVID-19 are increasing in the State and it has forced various political parties and organisations to shut their offices or restrict their activities as much as possible so that the infection could be prevented.

Major political parties in the State like the party at the helm of the State, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) closed its office and Congress restricted its activity. The opposition parties- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and AJSU Party are among those whose offices are being either closed or they restricted activities for very essential works. First of all JMM General Secretary Supriyo Bhattachrya on Wednesday by issuing an instruction to the party workers said that the party headquarters will remain closed till the date when the party will be informed to open for opening the office.

Alliance partner in the State Government, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) office also closed its main office in the State Capital. JPCC Chief Rameshwar Oraon came to office in the evening and completed the works of the organization. He said that it is not appropriate to completely close the office, but all the workers have been instructed not to come to office without very necessary work for the next 10 days.

In the last two days the Covid-19 cases reached the 100 mark and forced people to think seriously on the issue.

BJP also restricted its activities at its State headquarter and instructed the party workers that they should not come to office when it is not required. The State BJP Media In charge Sheopujan Pathak said that keeping increasing numbers of cases in mind the party State Chief Dipak Prakash instructed that only very essential activities will take place at the party office with precaution. The AJSU Party is also following the same cue and it is allowing any worker to enter the office after proper scanning. AJSU Party Spokesperson Deosharan Bhagat said that they have told the party officials and workers to not come to office without work.

The panic also gripped on other organisations, apex traders’ body in the State- Federation of Jharkhand Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) on Thursday announced that its main office will remain closed for indefinite time and when the situation suggests then the office will be opened.

FJCCI president Kunal Azmani said, “We have now entered Unlock-2 while fighting against Covid-19. We are realizing that since Unlock-2 has come into force in the State, negligence in personal and social behavior is also increasing, which is a matter of serious concern in the present scenario. Earlier we were highly cautious about facemask, social distancing, washing hands several times a day for 20 seconds, but now we are slowly giving up these habits. Please note that the spread of infection in Jharkhand is happening again at a rapid pace, in such a situation, we have to make a habit of being vigilant. In view of the increasing spread of infection, all subsequent meetings proposed by the FJCCI have been canceled. Activities will often be done from the digital platform itself. Entry of outsiders to the Chamber building is also prohibited until further orders.”
