The works being undertaken as part of the Smart City project in Dehradun will be executed in two shifts- day and night. Further, works should be planned in such a manner that the public faces least inconvenience during the festive period. The Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) chief executive officer Ashish Kumar Srivastava issued this direction for public convenience while conducting a site inspection of the works late on Friday night along with officials and contractors.

Regarding the smart road works the CEO directed that the work be expedited and that it not be done without barricading. He instructed the officials to ensure that other works are not impacted due to all the works being undertaken for the Smart City project. During the site inspection, Srivastava checked the smart road, multi-utility duct, Paltan Bazaar and Parade Ground works, and sought information about observance of earlier directions. He further directed the officials and contractors to plan the works in such a manner that the public does not face any inconvenience during the coming festive period. Inspecting the Parade Ground, the CEO said that an attempt will be made to hold the Republic Day parade 2021 in the developed Parade Ground. For this, he directed the officials and contractors to execute the work here on a war footing while ensuring full safety of the labourers. He said that surprise inspections will be carried out at night in the future too to ascertain the quality of the works. He also instructed that during execution of the project works care should be taken that shopkeepers do not face problems due to the work.

Meanwhile, as part of the water supply modernization efforts under the project- work on the first boring for the smart water supply SCADA system also began on Saturday.Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, MLA Vinod Chamoli, municipal councillors along with officials of DSCL and Jal Sansthan were also present on the occasion.
