Questioning the Agra Model of Covid war, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the Taj City’s death rate was higher than Delhi and Mumbai.
Priyanka’s reaction came soon after the Agra district magistrate served her a notice seeking a corrigendum over a tweet.
“The Corona death rate in Agra is higher than that of Delhi and Mumbai. The death rate of corona patients in Agra is 6.8 per cent. Of the 79 corona patients who lost their lives, a total of 35 per cent i.e. 28 people died within 48 hours of hospitalisation. Who is responsible for spreading the lie of Agra Model in these odd situation?” the Congress leader said in a series of tweets on Tuesday.
“The CM should clarify to the public within 48 hours and create accountability on the condition and number of corona patients being manipulated,” she said in another tweet and attached an order from the chief minister’s office dated June 18 to Agra district administration to present COVID-19 death rate accurately.
On Monday, Priyanka had questioned the Yogi Adityanath government over the death of 28 COVID-19 patients in Agra in the last 48 hours and accused the government of trying to bury truth by propagating ‘Agra Model’.
“In Agra, 28 Covid patients died who were admitted in the last 48 hours. How shameful this is for the UP government that they tried to bury the truth by propagating this model. Questions were raised on government’s no test, no corona policy but the government did not answer,” she tweeted
In another tweet, Priyanka posted, “If the UP government continues to act carelessly, consequences are going to be very dangerous.”
News reports claimed that at least 28 COVID-19 patients died in Agra’s SN Medical College (hospital in the last 48 hours.
However, on Monday, Agra District magistrate Prabhu Narain Singh reacted sharply to one of Priyanka’s tweets claiming there were 28 deaths within 48 hours in the city.
In a letter to Priyanka, Singh said that these claims were “baseless and misleading”.
“Corona warriors and fighters are working round the clock to check the pandemic spread and such reports will serve to demoralise them and also have an adverse impact on the common man,” the district magistrate’s letter said.
The district magistrate asked Priyanka to issue a corrigendum within 24 hours so that the truth was known to the people. He said that in the past 109 days, Agra reported 1,139 coronavirus cases, of which 79 died.
