Following a letter to President Ram Nath Kovind from Puri Sankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati that there was a threat to the seer, his mutt and the prominent visitors, the district administration has swung into action.
The State Government asked the district administration to address the concerns of the Sankaracharya forthwith.
Puri SP Umashankar Dash said they would examine the matter first and take actions accordingly.
The letter from Sankarcharya was sent on February 2. Besides, copies were sent to the Chief Justice of Supreme Court, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, Loka Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman. It mentioned growing antisocial activities surrounding his ashram premises.
