Puri Sankaracharya Swami Nischilananda Saraswati has said that giving minority status to Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists is a big conspiracy against Hinduism.

He said that in spite of these faiths being a very part of Hinduism, they were separated being given a minority status with a target to make Hindus a minority incountry. He took strong exception to  provisions in Article 25 of Constitution permitting citizens’ rights to profess and practise religions of their choice. He also strongly opposed religious conversion. In a video message released by his mutt, top Hindu seer questioned the essence of religious conversion in the country. “Why is there religious conversion and why Hindus only are converted mostly to Christianity,” he asked.

Citing uniqueness of  Sanatana Dharma in its science, philosophy and practices,  Sankaracharya said it is poverty and vote bank politics of leaders who are responsible for conversion of Hindus.
