Delhi Jal Board (DJB) vice-president Raghav Chadha on Tuesday inspected the progress of the construction of underground reservoir and booster pumping station in Mayapuri and pulled up officials at the slow pace of the projects.
The project was expected to complete in 18 months but is delayed by over 14 months and counting. The underground reservoir at Mayapuri was inaugurated in 2018 to keep pace with the growing water demands of the area and ensure proper equitable supply to all.
Chadha expressed disappointment over the non-completion of the project. Once completed the project will benefit the residents of parts of Subhash Nagar, Hari Nagar, Maya Enclave, M — Block, Khazan Basti, A-block, Mayapuri phase I and II etc. The awarded cost of the project is approximately Rs 14 crore. Reprimanding the contractor for delaying the project by over 14 months, Chadha said “Show cause notice is issued to the concerned contractor as delay in completion of the project and laxity in work is posing a problem for residents of the command area”.
On commissioning of this Mayapuri UGR/BPS a population of 1.50 lakh will be benefited with equitable water distribution with increased pressure. At present these areas are getting water from Subhash Nagar UGR, online booster Tilaknagar and from Naraina Main.
