Unlike BJP that relied on regional leaders for bypoll campaigning in MP, Congress party has roped in national leaders like Rahul-Priyanka Gandhi, and neighbouring Chief Ministers including Ashok Gehlot, and Bhupesh Baghel.
The Congress party issued list of 30 star campaigners on Saturday which features EX-AICC president Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi and Mukul Wasnik, former Rajasthan Dy CM Sachin Pilot, noted cricketer Navjot Singh Siddhu, former Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan and firebrand leader Sadhna Bharti.
Congress already has planned to use Pilot, a good friend of Jyotiraditya Scindia, in Gwalior-Chambal region where Gurjars (a caste represented by Pilot) in good numbers on several seats.
As BJP is persistently questioning absence of Digvijay Singh from campaigns, the Congress has also named him among star campaigners.
Acharya Pramod Krishna too has been named in the list.
Most of the senior leaders of the State including MPCC chief Kamal Nath have been named in the list of star campaigners.
BJP reacting to the list questioned the presence of large numbers of national figures in byplls. “It’s now evident that Congress can’t win these polls with the help of Kamal Nath-DIgvijay Singh which is evident by the presence of national leaders and CMs of neighbouring states in the list,” BJP spokesperson Rajneesh Agrawal said.
