Record production  of sanitiser in UP

Going by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s mantra of  ‘Opportunities in Disaster’, the state has registered a record production of sanitiser during the COVID-19 period, setting a new record in revenue generation.

According to the statistics of the Excise department, the distilleries and other small units of the state have not only produced a record quantity of 177 lakh litres of sanitiser from March 24, 2020 to November 15, 2020, they have also generated a record revenue of Rs.137 crore.

As far as the sale of sanitiser is concerned, while 78.38 lakh litres have been sold outside UP, a total of 87.01 lakh litre has been consumed in UP, making it to a total 165.39 lakh litres.

“On the lines of ‘Apada Mein Awasar’, the Excise department ensured that the formalities of production of sanitiser were completed timely and the product was also available in the markets,” said Additional Chief Secretary (Excise) Sanjay Bhoosreddy.

UP has also set a record in revenue generation during this period. As per statistics, the exchequer has made record revenue of Rs.137 crore. While this includes GST (goods and services tax) revenue of Rs.12,848 lakh, the licence fees added Rs.794.28 lakh to the exchequer. In addition, the revenue earned as denaturation fees was Rs.21.18 lakh.
