Keeping the spiralling number of Covid-19 cases in Ganjam district, the State Government is contemplating to open eight more Covid Care Centres (CCCs) and Covid Health Centres (CHC) to contain the disease at a faster pace.
Both Government and private buildings and existing healthcare centers/hospitals will be used on priority basis to check the pandemic from its further spread, sources said.
The proposed eight new Covid-19 health centers, in addition to providing treatment/healthcare services to Corona affected patients, will also have the provision of isolation centers with required number of doctors and other supporting healthcare personnel.
Out of the proposed eight new health centers, 5 new Covid Care Centers and the remaining 3 will be Covid Health Center which together will have a provision for 1,150 beds.
The institutions which reportedly have been identified to provide health care facilities to Covid-19 patients include the IPD of Brahmapur BPH College and Hospital for CCC (50 beds); Amit Hospital located in Gate Bazar for DCHC (100 beds); Aska Sub Divisional Hospital-DCHC (100 beds); Leporsy Hospital Building-CCC (150 beds) Patrapur and Sanakhemundi OBAV-CCC (100 beds); Boys and Girls Hostel building of Saraswati Sishu Mandir at Neelakanthanagar CCC with 500 beds respectively.
For effective management of these new 8 CCC and DCHC, the Ganjam Collector has reportedly appointed nodal officers and nodal administrators.
