Sub-Collector Sindhu Dattatraye Bhausaheb and Kukudakhandi Tehsildra Ipsita Priyadarshini along with police conducted raids on two gutkha-making units at Gurunthigaon and Marthipalli village and seized 177 bags of gutkha worth Rs 1.5 crore on Saturday.
They also detained eight persons in this connection.
Sadar PS IIC Santoshini Oram said the gutkha unit raided at Gurunthi gaon is owned by Sambhu Sahu. Gutkha packets worth Rs 50 lakh and four machines were seized from his factory.
The other gutkha factory belonged to Rabi Sahu. As many as 157 bags of gutkha were seized here, informed SDPO Jayanta Mohapatra.
