The Machkund police seized 712 kg of ganja worth around Rs 70 lakh from a pickup van near Bhedibeda in Koraput district on Saturdau night.However, the two occupants of the vehicle managed to flee from the spot.
According to reports, the cops, acting on a tipoff about the smuggling of the contraband, intercepted the registration number plate-less van.
During the search, the ganja was recovered from the vehicle. Police sources said the ganja was being illegally transported from Andhra Pradesh to Chhattisgarh through Machkund.
