With increasing number of Covid 19 cases in Sundargarh district and in Rourkela, the district administration has been increasing number of beds in Covid care centres.
It has also decided to set up more than 20 Covid care homes across the city of Rourkela and has also appointed seven transgenders on Sunday in different jobs related to Covid – 19 pandemic.
While the district administration was in the process of employing manpower for these new centres, a transgender association had approached for their employment in the centres. They had requested the district administration to provide them financial relief as their sources of income had reduced significantly during these lockdown periods. In this regard, they were invited by the ADM, Rourekla and offered employment opportunities at Covid care centres, BPUT as well as registration desk at Chhend. Total seven people have been employed on Sunday on outsourcing basis through district mineral fund. Some of them will work as attendants while others will work as data entry operators.
