SDMC issues 618 challans last week for flouting pollution norms

Intensifying its campaign against pollution, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has issued 618 challan in last one week against burning of solid waste, garbage, dry leaves, and plastic, rubber and construction activities in all four zones.

A senior SDMC official said that all zones of the civic body issued challans for burning of solid waste, garbage, dry leaves, and plastic, rubber and construction activities. In last one week, 618 challans issued amounting to Rs. 97,88,235.

“In Central Zone, 150 challans were issued amounting Rs 62,98,000 during night patrolling for under Solid Waste Management by laws and construction and air pollution under National Green Tribunal Act (NGT) Act,” he said.

The official said that to control dust pollution, eight water sprinklers covered around 90 kms to settle down dust in the area.
