A security audit is on for the town police station.
Explaining this security audit, Palamau SP Sanjeev Kumar said this security audit will take into account the latest update on the seasoned criminals as to whether they are on parole or on bail or free as the possibility of their return to crime cannot be ruled out. Beats will be vigorously patrolled, Kumar said.
The SP said the town police station is the nerve centre of the district and as such, it ought to be all-fit to handle any expediency.
Sources said a robbery in a jewellery shop and a case of burglary in quick succession have brought the heat on the police.
About cyber police station, the SP said a team of police officials who are software savvy is being put in there as ageing inspectors there in the cyber police station were finding it beyond their wisdom and capacity to crack highly sophisticated cyber cases.
He said these inspectors were neither any versed in computer science nor had they any inclination to be any experienced in running fingers on the key pad.
Kumar said in the police force there are sub inspectors of police who have engineering diploma and degree and that they want to tap for solving cyber fraud cases.
Sources said more than 50 cyber cases are lodged with the cyber police station but its cracking is too meagre.
Sanjeev Kumar said he is all out to give police here more 'eyes' and 'teeth'. Kumar said shop keepers and affordable residents will be convinced to install the third eyes the CCTV cameras for everyone's benefit.
About 'teeth' Kumar said it is all about strengthening the police picket and check post.
A check post at Shahpur end of the river Koyal is of strategic importance but Bansdeeh picket languishes conceded Kumar.
As festive season is around police are cautious about road hold up as such incidents swing up abruptly days ahead of pujas.
The SP said there is an all out effort to foil road hold up.
