In the wake of the Assembly election in Bihar; CRPF and Jharkhand Police have intensified anti naxal operations in the areas bordering Bihar following intelligence inputs that left-wing extremists can create violence.
While senior police officials of Bihar and Jharkhand as well as officials of central intelligence agencies have been regularly holding meetings to increase vigil in the bordering area sources in the police said that they are receiving intelligence inputs on a regular basis about movement and mobilization of extremists across the border.
According to intelligence inputs the bordering areas of Chatra, Palamu and Garhwa district movement of CPI (Maoist) are being monitored.
The dreaded rebel Mithilesh who was earlier active in North Chhotanagpur has shifted his base to Koyalshank zone.
In Chatra district Naveen Yadav; the self-styled regional commander of CPI (Maoiast) carrying Rs 15 lakh is forming his base.
Chatra shares border with Gaya district of Bihar where another dreaded rebel and special area committee member of CPI (Maoist) Sandeep Yadav is operating. Yadav who carries Rs 25 lakh cash prize on his head is also wanted in money laundering case.
Security agency is also watchful about hardcore CPI (Maoist) rebel Pradyuman Sharma who is currently operating in Koderma-Nawada.
“Border of districts are being sealed and there is intensive search operation going on. Deployments are done after assessing requirements so strategic details can’t be shared. We are sharing details of rebels operating both sides of the border,” said a senior police official.
Similarly, security has been beefed-up in Giridih which shares border with Jamui and Nawada district of Bihar.
Significantly, in the last one and half year a number of encounters has taken place and many rebels of CPI (Maoist) were arrested by security forces.
For instance, three rebels were gunned down and one CRPF personnel lost his life during a fierce encounter under Bhelwaghati police station of Giridih district.
The parliamentary and assembly election in Jharkhand held last year witnessed naxal violence.
Members of armed squad of CPI (Maoist) from Aurangabad district of Bihar were responsible behind killing of two persons at Pipra locality in Palamu district during parliamentary election whereas an election office of the BJP was blown in Latehar by them. During the assembly election rebels had gunned down four police personnel in Latehar during the assembly election.
