In a tragic incident reported from Shravasti, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax (Devipatan division) Kiran Mishra was killed while her husband and their driver were critically injured in a road mishap on Tuesday.
The IT officer’s husband is a senior official with Rozgar Ajivika Mission at Shravasti.
As per reports, Deputy Commissioner for Rashtriya Swatah Rozgar Ajivika Mission, Bharat Kumar Mishra was travelling with his wife Kiran Mishra in a SUV. On Mohnpur-Payagpur road in Ikauna area, the driver lost control over the wheel while trying to save a bicycle rider and the SUV plunged into a roadside ditch near a primary school around 11:30 am.
While Kiran Mishra died on the spot, her husband Bharat Kumar Mishra and the driver sustained critical injuries and were rushed to a hospital.
A case was registered and the body was sent for autopsy.
Meanwhile in Mahoba, three migrants were killed in a late Monday night mishap.
As per reports, a mini-truck carrying a dismantled stone crusher was heading to Mahoba when the driver offered lift to 24 migrant workers returning to the area from Delhi at Bagroni on the UP-Madhya Pradesh border. Some hours later, the tyre of the truck suddenly burst at night as a result of which the vehicle overturned into a ditch.
Three women — Heera Devi (25), Santoshi (48) and Anita (22) — were killed on the spot while 17 others were injured.
The police rushed there, rescued the victims and sent the injured to district hospital.
In another mishap in Azamgarh, three people were killed and two others were injured when a speeding car rammed into a stationary DCM truck in Atrauliya area on Tuesday.
Five of a family from Kopaganj area of Mau district were heading to Kopaganj from Lucknow in a car. As they neared Dashavam village on Lucknow-Azamgarh highway, the car rammed into a stationary DCM truck parked by the roadside resulting in the death of three persons while two others — Ahmed Raza and Mohammad Zain — were injured and admitted to district hospital for treatment.
The deceased were identified as Alim Mohammad, Nazrul Hasan and Sheru.
The DCM laden with liquor, was parked there for the last two days.
