Seven Covid deaths take toll to 31

Jharkhand on Sunday witnessed seven Covid-19 deaths — the single day highest casualties in the State after the epidemic broke out in March this year. The seven deaths were reported one each from Godda, Koderma,  Dhanbad, East Singhbhum, Deoghar while two deaths were reported from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Ranchi. With seven deaths on Sunday the number of casualties in the State has reached 31.

In Godda district a panchayat secretary died due to infection. The panchayat secretary working at Mahagama block of district was suffering from infection for the past few days. On Saturday night after his health deteriorated he was rushed to Godda where he took his last breath. Meanwhile, the Godda district administration has sealed Mahagma hospital and no one is allowed to enter the hospital premises.

In Jamshedpur, a 55-year-old man suffering from liver ailment died due to infection. Sources said that the man had reached Jamshedpur few days back after getting treatment. The man was admitted at Tata Main Hospital and was a resident of Sonari.

According to reports, Sonari resident was admitted to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) Covid-19 ward on July 3 after testing positive for corona. The deceased was suffering from liver ailment and he passed away at 2 am on Sunday, July 12.

Now the patient’s last rites will be performed as per protocol as it is the third Covid-19 death in East Singhbhum district. The dead body of the deceased will not be handed over to the family. Civil surgeon RN Jha informed the dead body will not be handed over to the family members and would be disposed off as the protocol by the civic body, Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC).

Hazaribag district too witnessed its third Covid 19 death on Sunday. The victim hails from Katkamsandi block of district. The man was tested Covid 19 positive three days back at RIMS Ranchi where he breathed his last. 

On Sunday 80 positive cases were reported from across the state. The maximum number of corona positive cases were reported from Koderma followed by Ranchi. In Koderma 14 cases were detected while in Ranchi 13:cases were reported. Chatra too reported 18 cases. The number of active cases is 1421, while 2308 people have recovered and discharged from hospital after recovering from

the infection.

On Sunday 45 persons recovered from your infection. As there has been rise in infection and number of recovered persons have gone down, the state recovery rate has also gone down. The State recovery rate has come down to 61. 38 per cent, while the national average is 62.92 per cent. However, for respite the state mortality rate is still low than national average. The mortality rate of State is . 82 per cent, while national mortality rate is 2.66 per cent.
