A case of shoot out for sand supremacy in Palamu’s Chainpur police station has been solved and the gang behind it has been busted.
One Shyama Chowdhury of Semartarn village under Chainpur police station was shot at on May 7.
He was hit in the back and one leg. After initial treatment in PAMCH he was shifted to RIMS Ranchi. He is improving there said sources
As this shootout had happened in lock down police took it as a challenge and wanted to crush it by all might said sources.
SP Ajay Linda set up a team under the command of SDPO Sadar Sandip Kumar Gupta and OC Chainpur Sunit Kumar.
Sources said within hours police nabbed two of the gang that had fired at Chowdhury but a hunt was on for four more with its mastermind Jeetu Vishwakarma.
One of these two was a minor and so he was sent to remand home, while the other to the central jail Daltonganj.
Gupta said, “Our SP Linda was monitoring this case on a daily basis. Under his direction I asked OC Sunit Kumar to hunt the four including Jeetu Vushwakarma and on Tuesday we got te four including Jeetu who were remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday.”
Police recovered a new look 7. 65 bore desi pistol, one magazine and one cell phone from the four.
Gupta said Jeetu wanted Chowdhury to be out of sand race for which this shoot out was done but it was a sheer luck for Chowdhury who survived this attack on his life.
There were in all 6 in this gang led by Jeetu and now all 6 are behind the bars.
OC Sunit Kumar said the recovered desi pistol is the one with which this gang had fired at Chowdhury.
