Wednesday, 01 July 2020 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

Chhattisgarh Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo on Tuesday posted an apology on Twitter for not being able to provide jobs to the youths in the state.

On Monday, an unemployed youth from Dhamtari district tried to self-immolate at the gate of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel's residence in Raipur. He was admitted in a hospital with 40 per cent burn injuries and was said to be out of danger.

“I am very sad and ashamed by the pain caused to all unemployed Shiksha Karmis, Vidya Mitan, Prerak and other youths. I am still firm on the promises I had made to you through ‘Jan Ghoshna Patra’. I promise that this government is putting its efforts. We are with you and will remain with you,” Singh Deo tweeted.

Twitterati responded well to Singh Deo’s remarks, which generated around 900 comments and around 1,700 likes.

Singh Deo, who represents Ambikapur assembly seat in Surguja region, was the Chairman of the committee that made the Congress party’s ‘Jan Ghoshna Patra’ (election manifesto) during the 2018 elections.

The opposition BJP has accused the ruling Congress party of failing to provide jobs to youths.
