Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP over economic slowdown and retail inflation, which is at a five-and-a-half-year high, saying that each vote cast for the saffron party in the Delhi polls will be for inflation.

Sisodia said a vote for the BJP will mean a vote for expensive electricity, education, health and public transport. "The BJP is a party that will make everything expensive if voted to power. They will stop all the free welfare schemes introduced by AAP Government and impose huge financial burdens on the people of Delhi," he said.

He said that mismanagement of the economy has made it difficult for people to run their households and the only relief is provided to them by the AAP Government's welfare schemes.

Quoting figures released by NSSO on inflation, he said people are worrying not just from the perspective of economic slowdown or unemployment but because it has become difficult for the common man to sustain even basic household expenses. "This is BJP's gift to people in the last 6 years. Prices of essential commodities have been constantly rising since the BJP came to power as inflation increased from 2.1 per cent to 7.4 per cent in just one year and the prices of vegetables increased by 60 per cent across the nation in just one year," he added.

He further said that even in the face of these troubling statistics, BJP leaders are busy making statements which are akin to applying salt to wounds. "On the one hand, the Delhi Government is sustaining people's lives by subsidizing electricity, public transport, school fees and health services without which they would have found it difficult to survive and on the other hand, BJP has been proclaiming that all these facilities shouldn't be given for free and that they are against subsidies," he added.

Sisodia said "BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma said that if the BJP comes to power in Delhi, they will stop all subsidies. I want to ask the BJP- what exactly is their problem? Kejriwal's Government is doing all to provide relief to people. We will keep continuing subsidy after coming back to power," he said.
