Uttar Pradesh got six representations in the new central committee of Bharatiya Janata Party, with five new faces getting a chance for the first time.
Except for general secretary Arun Singh, MP, the five others are new faces in the committee of JP Nadda announced in New Delhi on Saturday.
The surprise inclusion is Rajesh Agarwal, the former finance minister of UP who will be the new treasurer of the BJP.
However, general secretary Arun Singh has been retained by the party while Shiv Prakash has been made the co-organisation secretary.
Member of Parliament Rekha Verma has been made vice-president of the party while two MPs — Vinod Sonkar and Harish Dwivedi — have been appointed as secretaries, all new faces. Earlier, Vinod Sonkar was the chairman of the SC/ST cell of the BJP.
IT Cell chief Amit Malviya, also from UP, has been retained while MP from Fatehpur Sikri, Rajkumar Chahar, will be the new head of the Kisan cell.
The three spokespersons who have been retained are Sudhanshu Trivedi, Syed Zafar Islam (both Rajya Sabha members), along with lawyer Gaurav Bhatia.
Meanwhile, BJP STATE president Swatantra Dev Singh, Vice-president Vijay Bahadur Pathak and others congratulated the new members of the team Nadda.
