Saturday, 08 August 2020 | PNS | Lucknow

Tragedy struck a Sitapur family when a snake slithered into their house and bit their three minor sons. The victims were rushed to a community health centre where they were not provided treatment and referred to a hospital where they died.

Senior officers later visited the place of occurrence and the district magistrate assured the bereaved family of all assistance.

As per reports, daily wager Sunil’s wife Rinki was sleeping with their three minor sons on the floor of their home at Pipri Majra village in Sadar area on Thursday night.

Sometime in the night, a venomous snake slithered into that room and bit Shalu (12), Pawan (10) and Ansh (7) in  their sleep. The victims raised an alarm after which their mother woke up. She later called her husband and rushed the children to a local community health centre (CHC). The doctors there, without treating the children, asked the couple to take the victims to district hospital. The harried parents decided to take the children at a nearby private hospital where doctors pronounced all three dead upon arrival.

The news of the kids’ death sent shock waves in the village. After visiting their home, the district magistrate said that he had forwarded a recommendation to the government for financial assistance to the family.

Meanwhile in Azamgarh, a couple died after an old dilapidated house collapsed due to incessant rains on Thursday night.

As per reports, Jhinka Ram (55) used to live with his wife Kalawati (51) in an old house in Musriyapur hamlet of Raunapar. While they were asleep on Thursday night, the house suddenly collapsed due to heavy rains. Their neighbours rushed to their rescue and extricated them from the rubble but the couple had died by then.

Despite being informed, the police reached the scene only on Friday morning to complete the formality of autopsy.
