Accusing the state government of being immersed in corruption, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has said that it has lost the moral authority to be in the government. Talking to the media persons at the Congress Bhawan here on Sunday, the PCC president said that the BJP MLA from Lohaghat has accused the government of promoting corruption. He said that the BJP MLA wanted to raise the issue of a road in his area in the state assembly under rule 58 but instead of listening to him, the state unit of BJP has issued a notice to him. He said that the people of the state are closely watching the character and activities of the government and the veil over the ‘zero tolerance’ rhetoric of the government has been removed.
The Congress leader claimed a power struggle is going on in the state and there seems to be no coordination between the government and state administration. Singh said, “In the episode involving the state minister Rekha Arya all the ministers are advocating that they should have the right to write the CR of secretaries. This power already is there with the ministers and there is a need to put it into execution. The manner in which the ministers are accusing officers and the officers in turn feeling discomforted and indirectly blaming the ministers shows that the issue is very serious.’’
The PCC president added that the minister Rekha Arya has indirectly questioned the Chief Minister (CM) by stating that the inquiry committee should have representation of ministers which shows no confidence in leadership. He said that in such a situation the state government has no moral authority to remain in office for a single day.
