State reports 730 new Covid +ve

The State on Wednesday registered 730 new Covid-19 cases in all 30 districts and the State pool, with which the total positives’ tally rose to 3,16,001, the Health and Family Welfare Department said.

Of the new cases, 419 were from quarantine and 311 were local contacts. Mayurbhanj district reported the day’s highest 68 cases followed by Khordha 65, Sundargarh 57, Cuttack 49, Nuapada 46, Angul 44,  Keonjhar 40, Kalahandi 33, Puri 29, Jajpur and Jharsuguda 25 each, Jagatsingpur 23, Bargarh 21, Kendrapada 14, Ganjam 12, Sambalpur and Subarnapur nine each, Rayagada eight, Dhenkanal and Nabarangpur seven each, Koraput five, Gajapati and Deogarh four each,  Malkangiri three and Boudh one.

Besides, four cases were reported from the State pool. Meanwhile, 16 more persons succumbed to the disease on the day in the State, pushing the total toll to 1,687. Four persons died in Sundargarh district, three in Puri, two in Khordha and one each in Angul, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam and Jajpur.
