Following the massive blast in Lebanon’s capital Beirut, the State Government as a precautionary measure has asked all industries to report on the storage situation of explosive chemicals.
In a letter on Wednesday, the Directorate of Factories and Boilers instructed the factories occupiers (The person who has ultimate control over the affairs of the factory) to submit a list of quantity of flammable and explosive materials used, handled and stored in their facilities.
Besides, the directorate issued directions to take all possible safety measures to prevent any untoward incident in future. They have also been asked to furnish a report on preparedness to deal with any such emergency.
“In the wake of the massive explosion in a ware house at Beirut city, Lebanon that resulted in death of 135 persons and injury to 5,000 occupiers of all factories are requested to provide the list and quantity of flammable and explosive materials used, handled and stored in your factories,” the department stated.
The letter has also been sent to all Zonal Assistant Directors of Factories and Boilers for information and necessary action. They have been instructed to verify the preparedness in factories under their jurisdiction and furnish a report on preventive measures taken by the respective factory managements.
