Sleuths of Special Task Force (STF) claimed to have killed a wanted criminal with reward of Rs 50,000 for his arrest during an encounter in Gorakhpur early Friday morning.
As per a STF communiqué, the slain gangster was identified as Panna Yadav of Ahiran Purwa Mauja in Hardi area of Bahraich and had more than three dozen cases of loot, dacoity, murder registered against his name with Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Barabanki, Lakhimpur Kheri and Azamgarh police. He was also involved in an attack on a jailer inside District Jail and had escaped from police custody. A case was registered and he was sent to jail.
Meanwhile three people were killed and two others were injured when a car skidded into a drain in Belhar area of Sant Kabirnagar on Friday.
As per reports, Sanjay Tripathi of Chutiya Maer in Bakhira area, was heading to Patan Devi temple in Siddharth Nagar along with some family members and kin in a car. As the vehicle neared Jhundiya bridge in Belhar, the driver lost control and skidded into a drain. Later the police rescued them from the submerged car and rushed them to Community Health Center (CHC) at Mehndawal where Mahaveer (75) and Ashok (40) were declared dead while seriously injured Vijay Mishra (35), Rajesh Singh (40) and Om Prakash Tiwari (50) were referred to the district hospital. Later, Vijay was referred to Gorakhpur medical college in a critical condition where he succumbed.
