Street plays, songs to create awareness among the masses

Sunday, 12 July 2020 | PNS | Ranchi

The Ranchi district administration is taking all possible steps to ensure safety of the people and create awareness amongst them against Coronavirus. In this regard a Corona Awareness Vehicle can also be seen plying the City roads giving information about prevention against the virus through songs and street plays.

Based on the theme of educating people to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the vehicle was flagged off the Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Rai Mahimapat Ray on July 9 and the campaign is likely to continue till mid July. Artists of the cultural troupe impaneled by the administration are involved in this drive.

“This campaign has been launched to create awareness as people can be seen being a little reckless. The government has given some relaxations in the lockdown which does not mean that the virus is over. It has only been given to regain normalcy and also for the benefit of the people. The citizens too have to be responsible not just towards oneself but each other as well, wear a mask, use sanitiser and maintain social distancing norms at all times,” said District Public Relations Officers Dr Prabhat Shankar.

As a part of the awareness drive an artist can be seen dressed up as the virus informing people that it can infect just anyone. The only way to prevent it is to wear a mask and maintain social distance.

The vehicle is creating awareness through songs while the artists also engage the crowd in street plays. Awareness about not shaking hands, hugging and maintaining a distance of about one meter at all times is all being given. People are also being urged to wear a mask and cover their nose and mouth properly at all times when stepping out of their homes.

As a part of the campaign emphasis is also being given on use of sanitisers, frequent hand washing for at least 20 seconds, intake of healthy and fresh food and warm water. Residents are also being advised to not spit in public places and avoid touching their faces at all times. Masks are also being distributed as a part of this campaign.

Through this campaign, Ranchiites are also being made aware about the symptoms of coronavirus. In case of cold, cough, fever and difficulty in breathing, one should contact a doctor at the earliest.
