Housing and Urban Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water and Law Minister Pratap Jena on Tuesday stressed on taking steps for strengthening women self-help groups (SHGs) in the urban areas and helping the members become self-reliant.
The Minister stated this while chairing the 20th management committee meeting of the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) here. He asked officers to take steps for providing modern techniques to SHGs for production of different items that can be sold in competitive market in national and international level.
Issues relating to Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), SMID, various services provided by WSHGs, Jala Sathi, Swachh Sathi, skill development training, different self-employment schemes, support to street vendors and survey on homeless were discussed at length.
Among others, H and UD Principal Secretary G Mathivathnan, Municipal Administrator Sangaramjit Nayak and SUDA Project Director Subhendu Kanungo and Additional Director Sharada Prasad Panda were present.
