Survival of the fittest and global capitalism

Sunday, 25 October 2020 | Dr Ambrish Gautam

Charles Darwin gave a theory about 100 years ago, which is known as survival of the fittest. That is, whoever is eligible will live. In this theory he studied the relationship between nature and animals, and the conditions of their existence in nature, which has been used by sociologists in social studies in the context of man's relationship with nature. Just as creatures in nature preserve their existence, increase their vigour, in the same way humans also maintain their existence in the society.

The present society is considered as a capitalist society, which is mainly concerned with the creation of capital from capital and the creation of more capital and wealth. That is, property is the basis of man's ability at present. A person who has property is able to withstand the dragon-like capitalism, but a man without property proves to be perfect in proving his worth. Current capitalism is like a spinning wheel, in which a person who can maintain harmony establishes himself and manages to save himself while the other, who cannot do so, is thrown away from the wheel and loses its existence.

In the present scenario, a person has to be so capable to save his/her existence that he/she can protect his existence with the help of a circle. This is not always possible in the current changing society because as the society easily moves towards complexity, the standards of survival also continue to deteriorate. Prior to capitalism the standard of survival was second, then second in capitalism and now changed again to global

capitalism.  Although a person is struggling with nature and fighting with nature, this ability develops in him, through which he changes himself according to the changing environment.

But not all human beings are like this and their coordination becomes difficult or rather they go beyond the periphery of the society.

These circumstances can be easily seen even in the present Pandemic times. Although the human beings, who are able to meet the standards of global capitalism are able to save their existence, in the state of incompatibility, they have to go out of the mainstream. Workers are such a society on which large industries run, on which development paradigms are created.

And big skulls are erected; the same manus is unable to raise the standards of global capitalism for him and ends his illusion even after giving his all. In which farmers, labourers, daily workers can be easily seen. Those people suffering from pandemic, who are able to meet these standards for themselves, are able to survive their existence, the deprived people are becoming extinct from society. The standard tool of current capitalism is money, the availability of which determines the survival of a person.

So, even in the present times, Darwin's survival of the fittest theory is proving right.
