On the direction of the Union government, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set up a 17-member task force for implementation of the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the state.
The committee will look into different aspects of implementation, keeping in view the socio-economic nature of the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, who holds the Education portfolio, will be the chairman of the task force while Minister of State for Primary Education (Independent charge) Satish Dwivedi will be the deputy chairman.
The Narendra Modi government brought a new education policy in the country recently.
Official sources said here on Wednesday that the other members of the task force would be UP State Higher Education Council Chairman Dr HC Tripathi, Additional Chief Secretary (Primary Education) Renuka Kumar, ACS (Technical Education) S Radha Chauhan, ACS (Higher Education) Monika S Garg, ACS (Secondary Education) Aradhana Shukla, former bureaucrat and former secretary at the Centre, Anil Swarup and ex-chairman of CBSE, Ashok Ganguly.
The sources said that AKTU Vice-Chancellor Dr Vinay Pathak, UP Sanskrit Sansthan Chairman Vachaspati Mishra, ex-director of Secondary Education VP Khandelwal, ex-director of Secondary Education Krishna Mohan Tripathi along with Lucknow University professors Arvind Mohan, Nishi Pandey and Abbas Nair would be the other members of the task force.
Director General of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Vijay Kiran Anand, will be the member-secretary of the task force.
Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said the new education policy would prove to be a game changer as it would strengthen the education system after a gap of about 35 years.
“It will encourage students towards vocational education and children to learn the mother tongue,” he said.
Ashok Ganguly said that a massive teacher training would be required because UP had immense potential to take a lead in the implementation of the NEP.
