The temperature levels hovered below normal limits at many places in Haryana and Punjab on Monday.
Haryana’s Hisar was the coldest place in the region recording a minimum temperature of 5.9 degrees
Celsius, five notches below normal level.
Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana settled at a minimum temperature of 9.6 degree Celsius while maximum was recorded at 22.8 degrees, down by three notches from normal.
According to the Meteorological Department, Narnaul also experienced a cold night recording a low of 6 degrees Celsius, down three degrees against normal. Karnal and Bhiwani also recorded below normal minimums at 8.1 degrees Celsius and 8.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Ambala recorded the minimum temperature at 9.6 degree Celsius.
In Punjab, Bathinda was the coldest place recording a low of 5.6 degrees Celsius. Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded above normal minimums at 11 degrees Celsius and 10.7 degrees Celsius, respectively.
During the past few days, minimum and maximum temperatures at most places in Haryana and Punjab have hovered below normal limits.
The maximum temperature recorded was 21.2 degree Celsius in Amritsar, 22.1 degrees in Patiala, 22.7 degrees in Ludhiana, 22.6 degrees in Karnal, 22.8 degrees in Ambala and 23.5 degrees in Bhiwani.
The Met Department has forecast light rainfall at isolated places in the two states from Wednesday onwards.
