Chhattisgarh Police have arrested three young men who absconded after a hit-and-run case which killed a four-year-old boy and injured 11 persons on Monday night in Gariaband district.
Gariaband Additional Superintendent of Police Sukhnandan Rathore told The Pioneer over telephone that the three are Pemendra Sende alias Appu (31), Vesh Rathore alias Pappu (27) and Devendra Thakur alias Vicky (27).
Pemendra hails from Dhamtari while the other two are residents of Gariaband district.
Acting on a tip, they were arrested from a village in the district and presented before a court which sent them to jail, Rathore added.
The hit-and-run took place in Malgaon area in the Kotwali Police Station limits after former Mayor Mamta Rathore’s son Romit Rathore had a row with some people on a roadside celebrating Dussehra festival.
The verbal spat turned into a scuffle. An enraged Romit Rathore and his friends drove their car (G-23, 6520) for some distance and then reversed it at great speed and ran over the crowd. They then escaped in the car.
The dead boy was identified as Munesh Sinha. Romit and Saurabh were arrested earlier.
