Three Naxalites, including a woman, were killed in a gun battle with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on Monday, police said.

The woman Maoist carried a reward of `8 lakh on her head while the state government had declared rewards of `5 lakh each on the heads of the two others, police said.

A Sashatra Seema Bal (SSB) trooper was injured in the gunfight, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P said.

The fighting took place in a forest around 8 am when a team of SSB’s 33rd Battalion was on patrol from its Kosranda camp, around 150 km from Raipur.

After the fighting, the bodies of three radicals, including the woman, clad in 'uniform' were recovered, the officer said.

An X95 rifle, a SLR rifle and a country-made weapon were found at the site. The X95 weapon was looted by Naxalites after an ambush on BSF in Raoghat area in 2018, Sundarraj said.

A Head Constable of SSB received minor injuries in the action. He was admitted to a hospital in Antagarh where his condition was reported to be out of danger.

The dead woman was      identified as Jyoti, a member of Maoist PLGA Company no 5 and carried a reward `8 lakh on her head. Likewise, Badru and Guddu, who were also members of Maoist PLGA Company no 5, carried rewards of `5 lakh each on their head, he said.

According to Sundarraj P, in the last couple of weeks, bodies of seven Naxalites have been recovered by security forces in post monsoon anti-Naxalite operations in Bastar range.
