People in Chhattisgarh who are habitual drinkers, will still have go out alcohol for one more week as liquor outlets and bars across the state will continue to remain shut until April 14.
An order issued by the state excise department on Tuesday, extended the closure of the liquor vends as well as the godowns of the state beverage corporation for one more week until April 14.
Liquors shops and bars across the state are closed until April 7 in view of the nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Citing the reason of preventing the citizens from spread of contagious coronavirus, the excise department also issued a circular in this regard to the district collectors of all the 27 districts across the state and instructed to follow the lockdown strictly.
Notable, recently the department had formed a committee to look into the matter of lifting ban on sale of liquor across the state keeping in view the physical and mental conditions of habitual drinkers.
The non availability of liquor in the market due to the ongoing lockdown is causing lot problems, including mental problems for habitual drinkers.
Three people in the capital city, recently died after allegedly consuming surgical spirit as a replacement of the liquor amid the nation-wide lockdown to combat the spread of coronavirus.
