As the Government has withdrawn lockdown, shutdown, and night curfew, the locals were not following the Covid protocols related to maintaining social distancing and wearing masks.
To put a break on the ongoing rise in Covid infections in their localities, several Bazar committees have started adopting shutdown.
The Balia Bazar Committee, one of the crowded markets of the district, has enforced a direction taken unanimously by all the business establishments that shops would remain open from dawn to dusk (6 am to 6 pm) weekly five days along with imposing two days weekly shutdown at Balia Bazar from Saturday. The restriction would remain in force till October 15, said Balia Bazar Committee president Pramod Kumar Sahu.
Two days’ weekend shutdown along with closing down all the business establishments during crowded time at the market in evening , was the last resort for them to control the spread of Covid infection.
All the owners of business establishments have given their nod for the larger interest of the society, added Sahu.Similarly, the Madhial-based Ganga Bhagirathi Puja Committee has imposed shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am every day until the situation has not improved.
